"Mariche 2" is a 1997 work by Venezuelan kinetic artist Jesús Rafael Soto. The piece showcases Soto's signature style of geometric abstraction. The artwork comprises four squares of different colors—yellow, red, green, and black—separated by a grid of vertical lines. This grid creates a dynamic interplay between the flat surface of the canvas and the illusion of depth. The vibrant colors further enhance this effect, drawing the viewer's eye into the artwork. Soto's exploration of light, space, and perception through the use of simple geometric forms and repetitive patterns exemplifies his contributions to Op art and Kinetic art.
