Bailybrug Possibly 1949

ANP’s small monochromatic print titled, Bailybrug, shows a group of people building a bridge. I imagine the artist capturing this construction, trying to find the right angle, making sure all the elements are composed to create the right shot. The image is about building something together, the bridge is not only connecting different places, but different people as well. The men working are a community of people helping one another. The image creates feelings of connection and camaraderie. Photographers and painters alike are often trying to create an image that resonates not only with themselves but with the rest of the world. I hope this image inspired other artists in the future to create meaningful, connected, and community-based artworks.
