Editor: This untitled piece is by Barnett Freedman. I find the gaze of the woman intriguing, and I'm curious about the box she's holding. What do you see in this piece? Curator: I see a quiet intensity. It makes me wonder, is she looking hopefully into the future? That patterned border reminds me of wallpaper. Is this a portrait of domesticity, of inner thoughts? I wonder what story Freedman wanted to convey. Editor: That's interesting. The wallpaper makes me consider the subject's environment, and how that might affect her identity. Curator: Exactly! It becomes this quiet stage for her existence. It's like he captured a fleeting moment. Editor: I'm not sure I would have noticed any of that without you pointing it out. I will keep that in mind next time. Curator: It's all about letting the art speak to you, and then questioning what it's trying to say!
