Pavlo Makov made "A.D. Garden" with ink on paper, and it’s a trip. Look closely, and you’ll see it's all about the process, a kind of meditative repetition that builds into something bigger. The texture is incredibly detailed, each tiny tree meticulously placed. The ink isn't just black; there are so many shades of grey in there. It gives the whole piece a sense of depth and atmosphere. I keep thinking about that central structure, that almost ghostly building. It’s solid, a contrast to the organic forms around it, but its repetition throughout the composition makes it feel almost ephemeral. Makov’s work often deals with themes of urbanism and nature, a dialogue that reminds me a bit of Piranesi's architectural fantasies, but with a more ecological, almost melancholic twist. It makes you think about how we see and shape the world around us, and how much room for interpretation there really is.
