This Fraktur piece by Albert Levone is an explosion of folk art joy, probably made with watercolor and ink. The lines are so assured, almost like a coloring book, but then the colors bleed, a gorgeous mess! I love how flat everything is, but it doesn't feel stiff. Look at those two birds in the center, about to kiss over a heart. They’re so similar, but slightly off, like fraternal twins in a dance. The colors are earthy, but still so vibrant, kinda like the palette Henri Rousseau picked when painting his jungle scenes. See how the border has a playful rhythm? Each colour block is like a little beat, holding the whole thing together. It reminds me that art is often about finding the extraordinary in the ordinary, a celebration of simple things, made with so much love and care.
