Editor: So, this is Stuart Davis's "Art Theory Text with Scribble." I find it really intriguing... it's just his handwritten notes, but it feels like a window into his artistic process. What strikes you about this piece? Curator: It's pure Davis, isn't it? The way he jumbles words and scribbles... it's like a visual jazz riff. He's wrestling with ideas of representation, what is a thing, and if it has any meaning, very meta, don't you think? Editor: Definitely! It almost feels like he's trying to break down language itself. I never thought I would find handwriting so stimulating. Curator: He's trying to find the essence of things. The language is there, so he can think about it differently and represent the world in his own unique way. Editor: That makes so much sense! I see it completely differently now.
