Chul Hyun Ahn made "Tunnel #5 (After Dan Flavin)" with fluorescent lights and mirrors, creating a mesmerizing illusion of depth. You know, I can’t help but think about Flavin's own obsession with light and space when I look at this piece. What does it mean to go "after" another artist? It's like entering into a conversation, right? A discussion through form, color, and light. The tunnel effect is so inviting, as if you could step right in and be transported. I imagine Ahn meticulously arranging those lights and mirrors, calibrating the reflections to create that perfect sense of endlessness. It's a dance between art and architecture. And while it might seem simple, it’s also kinda magical. It taps into our fascination with perception and the way light can trick our eyes. Artists do that, they make other artists dream, think and try new things!
