Gouden dukaat, noodmunt uit Wenen, geslagen tijdens het beleg door de Turken 1529

This golden ducat, a type of coin, was minted in 1529 in Vienna, Austria, and is an example of an emergency coin (noodmunt) created during the Siege of Vienna by the Ottoman Empire. The front side of the coin features the inscription "1529 TURK BE GEREWI," (Turkish came to Vienna) referring to the siege. On the back, the coin displays a cross with four coats of arms. This small coin, now residing in the Rijksmuseum, is a historical artifact that gives us a glimpse into a turbulent period in European history.
