This is an untitled print by Joan Miró, who was working with ideas of chance and playful abstraction. I love how Miró lets the process show. Look at the texture in these simple shapes – the way the red ink isn't perfectly smooth, giving it a handmade feel. It reminds me that art is about doing, about the decisions we make as we go. The blue line loops around, almost like a playful doodle, but it's so carefully placed. It interacts with the vertical red form and the quieter gray one, creating a little dance on the page. Miró’s work makes me think of Paul Klee, both playing with simple forms but with such different effect, Miró all boldness and Klee more whimsical. Art is this amazing conversation across time, and it's never about having one right answer. It's more about the questions it opens up in our minds.
