Theodor Pallady sketched Strada Sfinții Apostoli using pencil and watercolor. Just look at the tentative lines sketching out the architecture, they show the artist thinking through the composition, adjusting and correcting. I really feel for Pallady trying to capture the light and shadow playing on the buildings! You can see him experimenting with different washes of color, trying to get the tones just right. The blueish tree in the center acts like a little visual anchor. I wonder if he stood in the same spot for hours, watching how the sun moved across the scene, and how the colors shifted with the changing light. Painting is like having a conversation, ideas ripple and spread out between artists through time. It shows us that art isn't about answers, it's about asking better questions, and opening up possibilities.
