"Santa Barbara, California" is a chromolithograph from the "Surf Beauties" series of trading cards issued by the Kinney Brothers Tobacco Company in 1889. The card features a woman in a blue and white striped swimsuit standing on a rock at the edge of the ocean. This collectible card is an example of trade cards, which were often used to advertise products in the late 19th century. The Kinney Brothers Tobacco Company used these cards to promote their brand of tobacco products. These cards, featuring attractive women, are also considered to be early examples of pin-up art. The card is now part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
