Jason Limon made this painting called "Don't Look At Me," and it's got these little skeletons hanging out in boxes shaped like social media logos. It’s playful, darkly comic, and strangely poignant. I can imagine Limon carefully building up the surface, layering color, and then scraping back to reveal the textures beneath. The skeletons look trapped inside these containers. There’s one slumped in a “Tik Tok” box, while another is gazing at their phone inside the giant skull, bathed in this eerie glow. It's like they’re saying, "Stay inside," and you can’t help but feel the artist wrestling with the pull of social media, the desire for attention versus the need to hide away. Think of Francisco Goya who also expressed a sense of horror and political satire. Artists are always borrowing, stealing, and riffing off one another’s ideas. We are pushing the boundaries, and finding new ways to express the messy, complicated experience of being alive right now.
