Editor: This is "Olympus" by Dame Barbara Hepworth. I find the arrangement of the semi-circular forms, set against the textured red background, quite striking. What do you see in this piece, in terms of its formal qualities? Curator: The power of this lithograph lies in its successful manipulation of form and color. Note the interplay between the solidity of the shapes and the ethereality of the ground. The varying orientations of the shapes create a dynamic tension. How does the relationship between positive and negative space strike you? Editor: I see what you mean, the shapes really do pop against the background. Thank you. Curator: Indeed. Hepworth's sensitivity to material and form is evident, providing a rich visual experience.
