Yolande Delasser made this painting of a Water Jug, we don't know when, or where exactly, but it's giving me some ideas about artmaking as an ongoing process, almost a conversation. Look at the surface, there's a kind of translucency in the way she layers the paint. It's not trying to trick you into thinking it's a real jug, it knows it's a painting. The way she lets the colors bleed into each other, especially in the lettering, has a freedom to it. It feels like she’s exploring the jug as she paints it, not just copying. I'm reminded of other artists who play with the everyday, like Morandi with his bottles, turning something simple into something deeply felt and seen. It’s like she's saying, "Here's this jug, but really, it's about how we see, how we feel, and how art keeps talking to itself across time." It's not about getting it 'right,' but about keeping the conversation going.
