"Red Petal 2" is a 1972 work by French artist Jean Degottex (1918-1988). Degottex was known for his abstract, minimal works that explore the relationship between color, shape and space. This particular piece is a striking example of his style, featuring a vibrant, organic red form cut from a sheet of paper and presented against a white background. The single, thin white line running along the lower right side of the "petal" adds a subtle counterpoint to the dominant red, creating a visually engaging and thought-provoking composition.
