Adolf Wölfli made this drawing, Der Napf, using coloured pencils and graphite. I love the way he layers colours, it's not about blending or smoothing, but about building up these intense, vibrant surfaces. The texture of the paper shines through, and you can see the pressure of the pencil in each line. It feels like a real, physical process. Check out the way the lines vibrate in the centre, those concentric bands draw your eye into the depths, like staring into a vortex. It’s kind of scary, kind of beautiful, that feeling of being pulled into something. Wölfli's work reminds me of other visionary artists like Hilma af Klint, who also explored inner worlds and spiritual realms through art. Ultimately, art is an ongoing conversation, a dialogue across time and space, where fixed meanings dissolve into a space of endless possibilities.
