This "Vase" was created by the Wedgwood Manufactory around 1770. The Wedgwood Manufactory is known for its innovative use of stoneware, particularly in the creation of jasperware, which was a type of white stoneware with colored designs. While this vase is not jasperware, it still showcases the company’s penchant for using color and texture in its designs. The black and brown “marbled” glaze, paired with the white relief decoration, adds to the visual appeal of this elegant piece. The vase is currently held in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
