This four-pronged fork with a flat handle was created at the Wiener Werkstätte, though it's not dated. The muted silvery surface here isn't uniformly polished, it has some irregularities and feels handmade. It reminds me that even everyday objects go through a making process. Look at the subtle discolouration, a sort of tarnish to the handle, evidence of having been held and used. I love how the colour here isn't just one note but a whole chord. The handle is almost rectangular, simple and elegant, a reminder that functional objects can be beautiful. This piece resonates with the work of artists like Dieter Roth, who elevated the everyday into something worthy of contemplation. Ultimately, it’s about slowing down and reconsidering our relationship with the world around us.
