This terracotta coffee pot was produced by the Wedgwood Manufactory. Its form is strikingly architectural, almost as if a classical building has been shrunk and repurposed for the domestic sphere. The overall structure is defined by precise, horizontal lines that give the impression of stacked layers, creating a sense of controlled verticality. These lines work in tandem with the pot's curves to produce a dynamic interplay between order and fluidity. Note how the spout is anthropomorphized with a sculpted face. This feature introduces a surreal, almost unsettling element, disrupting the otherwise uniform aesthetic. The choice of terracotta is also critical. It offers a tactile quality, inviting touch and drawing attention to the object's materiality. This piece questions the boundaries between functional object and artwork. By subtly subverting expectations of both form and function, the coffee pot invites ongoing interpretation.
