This Head Cover, made by Kinh, is a textile at the Minneapolis Institute of Art; its geometric shapes in red and green feel both casual and precise. I love how the shapes create movement, a subtle dance across the fabric. The texture is smooth, almost like paper, allowing the colors to pop without the distraction of a heavy weave. Look closely and you’ll see a beautiful area where the red meets the cream of the fabric, creating a soft, hazy line. It's in these small imperfections that the piece really sings. It reminds me of a modern abstract painting, something Agnes Martin might have made if she worked with textiles. It’s these kinds of connections, this ongoing conversation between artists across time and mediums, that makes art so endlessly fascinating. Ultimately, it’s the ambiguity, the multiple readings, that keep us coming back.
