"Hoofd van Christus" (Head of Christ) is a 1928 etching by Dutch artist Lodewijk Schelfhout (1881-1943). The artwork, currently housed in the Rijksmuseum, depicts a close-up of Christ's head, crowned with thorns and with eyes closed. Schelfhout’s expressive lines and use of chiaroscuro create a sense of pain and suffering, highlighting the emotional impact of Christ's sacrifice. The etching's small dimensions, 157 mm by 117 mm, further enhance its intimate and poignant nature.
