Will Barnet made this print, Aurora, with serigraphy, and what strikes me is the quietness of the colour and the shapes. Everything feels carefully placed, like pieces in a puzzle where the goal isn't to complete a picture, but to pause a moment in time. Barnet plays with flatness, making the whole scene feel like it’s happening on the surface. But then, look at how he suggests the texture of the woman's jacket. It's not just brown, but a field of tiny dots that gives it depth and warmth. The cat, so solid and black, becomes a silhouette against the window. It’s a flat shape, but its glowing eyes give it a sense of hidden depth and personality. It reminds me a bit of Milton Avery, another artist who knew how to do a lot with a little. Both understood the power of simplicity, and how sometimes, less really is more. What do you think?
