Alfred Freddy Krupa made this work, called Neo Minimalism, using ink and a leaf. In it, a dark disc floats, and a red leaf hangs. In the context of minimalism, these objects carry symbolic weight, distilling nature down to its most essential elements. The leaf, a universal emblem of life, death, and rebirth, speaks to the transient nature of existence. We see echoes of this sentiment in vanitas paintings, where decaying fruit and wilting flowers remind us of mortality. Yet, here, the leaf is not decaying but vibrant. This contrast creates an emotional tension. The circular form above might reflect the sun, a symbol of life. The non-linear composition reminds us that symbols transcend time. Though this is modern, these icons evoke ancient wisdom. They are reborn, shifting in significance, yet still speaking to our collective memory.
