Joan Miró made this print, La Folle au piment rageur, and it's really interesting how he lets the process kind of hang out there, you know? The colours aren't blended to perfection, and that kind of rawness lets you see the work that went into making it. Looking at the red shape, it's like, is it a body? A pepper? The texture feels almost woven, like fabric, and it gives the whole thing this grounded, material feeling. Then you get to the head – or what I think is the head – and it's this crazy mix of scribbles and colours. That little yellow eye just staring out! Miró always felt like he was in conversation with other artists. For me, someone like Louise Bourgeois comes to mind, with that same sense of playful, dark humour. It's not about making sense, but about making feeling visible.
