Lee Krasner made "The Sun Woman II" using oil, and like many artists, she’s working with a limited palette to explore infinite possibilities. There’s a real push and pull here, a feeling of immediacy in the bold strokes of red, the stark contrast with the green, and the way the white peeks through, defining shapes. It’s as if Krasner is wrestling with form itself, building and deconstructing it in the same breath. The texture isn't smooth; you can sense the movement of the brush, the speed, and the pressure. Look at the looping red shapes, how they bleed and blend into the off-white, as if she's searching for the essence of something, not quite naming it, but feeling its presence. It reminds me of Joan Mitchell, another artist who wasn’t afraid to let the paint speak. Like a conversation, it builds up, each layer responding to the one before, until you have this vibrant, complex, and totally unique piece.
