Box 1843 - 1844

Nathaniel Mills's "Box" (1843-44) is a small, intricately detailed silver box with a floral motif. The oval-shaped lid is adorned with an engraved floral design, while the base features a similar floral motif but with a slightly different arrangement. The box is a prime example of the meticulous craftsmanship prevalent in silverwork during the 19th century, highlighting the artistry of American silversmiths like Mills. The "Box" is currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
