Curator: This untitled piece is the work of Christopher Le Brun. Editor: It’s incredibly dynamic, almost violently so. The black strokes command the eye. Curator: The use of such stark contrast is intentional. Le Brun, born in 1951, engages with the tradition of Abstract Expressionism but also filters it through a lens informed by historical painting. Editor: I see that. There's a raw energy that feels very modern, yet the composition hints at classical landscapes, perhaps, disrupted and re-imagined. Curator: Exactly. His work after 1980s showed a renewed interest in mythological and Romantic themes. Editor: Fascinating how these forms speak to chaos and order simultaneously. Curator: His goal was to evoke emotion through pure visual means, a testament to the enduring power of abstraction.
