Edvard Munch made this striking image with expressive strokes of paint, and pastels which give the surface a velvety texture. I imagine Munch standing before the canvas, lost in thought, maybe wrestling with some heavy feelings... You see it in the strokes, right? The way the red paint drips down from the top—violent and visceral. Then those blotches of green, scattered like an afterthought, or like an attempt to find balance in all that raw emotion. It's like he's digging into something deep, pulling it out and smearing it right there on the canvas. Munch's work reminds us that painting isn't just about what you see, but about what you feel. It's about the struggle to make sense of the world, and maybe, just maybe, finding a little bit of beauty in the chaos. And that's what keeps us painters going, each of us adding our own little piece to the conversation.
