Yuri Zlotnikov's "Rythm. Space. People" looks like it was made with markers, a medium I'm always interested in because it doesn't allow for many take-backs. It's just a case of putting it down, letting it be, and moving on. I like the way some marks are clustered, like little energetic crowds, then spread thinly across the plane. It's like he's thinking about how we gather and disperse, in time and space. Look at the bottom left, the scribbled mass is offset against the clear area of white paper above. The colour choices seem intuitive, not descriptive. It reminds me of Paul Klee, or maybe even Joan Miró. The longer you look at it, the more it seems like you might be able to decipher it, but you probably won't. I like the idea that there's a kind of dance happening, one you can feel but never quite put your finger on.
