Twilight 1895

Twilight, by Arkhyp Kuindzhi, is an intriguing example of the artist's oil painting. Kuindzhi, known for his dramatic use of light and shadow, builds up layers of paint to capture the mood of the twilight. He carefully blends the pigment to evoke a smooth gradient of color.
