Valerii Lamakh made this untitled painting with oil on canvas, and I can just imagine him at work, wrestling with the medium. There’s a real generosity in the brushstrokes, like he’s unafraid to let the paint do its thing, dripping and sliding, creating these surprising textures. The colors are so warm, a mix of yellows, oranges, and browns, that create a vibrant energy. And then there's that single dot of blue, it feels like an accent, a tiny moment of clarity amidst the energetic chaos. Looking at the heavy brushstrokes, I wonder if he was thinking about other artists who worked with abstraction, like the German Expressionists, or maybe even some of the early modernists. He’s working through something here, trying to find a balance between control and chance. I find it so relatable and touching. Painting is like this ongoing conversation, right? Artists responding to each other, picking up ideas, and pushing them further. And in the end, we’re left with these beautiful, messy, and ultimately human expressions.
