Helen Frankenthaler made this print, ‘Paris Review’ and you can see how she approached making art as a process. It’s not about illustrating something, but about what happens when colours meet on a surface. The paint is really thin, almost like watercolour, and soaks right into the paper. Look at the blue at the top, see how it bleeds out, creating these soft edges? That's where the paper is in control, not the artist. Then there's the bright yellow at the bottom, almost cartoonish, holding everything up. It's like a stage! Frankenthaler’s looseness reminds me of Joan Miró, letting the hand wander and the colors play. It’s like she’s inviting us to see the world with fresh eyes, not tied down by what things are supposed to look like.
