Editor: This intriguing, untitled print by Terry Winters from the Tate collection is a vibrant explosion of red and black. It feels primal, like looking at something fundamental. What do you make of this piece? Curator: It's fascinating how Winters uses the print medium. Consider the socio-political context of printmaking – traditionally a method for mass production and dissemination of ideas. Editor: Right, making art accessible. Curator: Exactly. Yet, Winters creates something deeply personal and abstract. The tension between the medium’s history and the work’s apparent opacity is compelling. The use of red is definitely striking too. Editor: I hadn't thought about that tension, that's really interesting! Curator: Thinking about this work in terms of the politics of imagery really enriches our understanding. Editor: Definitely, I see it in a completely new light now!
