Aldo Mondino made 'Bela Balans' with a host of colourful rectangles tilting precariously on a balancing beam. I can imagine the artist carefully placing each rectangle, adjusting their angles and positions, trying to find just the right composition. Each stroke feels deliberate yet playful, like a dance of color and form across the surface. The textures in this piece make me think about Mondino's creative process, perhaps he was thinking about finding equilibrium in art and life. I notice a bright red blob which, for me, destabilises the equilibrium, suggesting that things are not always as balanced as they seem. It's like a little wink from the artist, reminding us not to take things too seriously! Painting is like an ongoing conversation between artists across time, and this feels like Mondino is talking to a new generation, inviting us to find our own sense of balance.
