Magda Feher made this Untitled flower image using, what looks like, a colorographic process. It’s a print, a copy, but that doesn’t diminish its qualities. Look at how the colors work together. They’re very flat and opaque. It's like, color, shape, done. What I find interesting is the texture, or lack of it. It's a flat surface, smooth, almost like a digital print, and that makes me wonder about the original artwork, if there ever was one. Was it a painting? A collage? Or was the design created specifically for this printing process? The area that really grabs me is the central part of the flower, the stamen. It’s so detailed, so precise, yet it contrasts with the more abstracted petals. This little area really brings it all to life. It reminds me a little of some of the floral prints of Andy Warhol, who also had a pop sensibility, even if Warhol's work is tonally completely different. Anyway, enjoy!
