This 1822-1849 Dutch broadside by Jan de (II) Lange, titled "Leer eerst uw opgelegde taak, / En kort den tijd dan met vermaak" (First Learn your assigned task, / And then shorten the time with fun), is a series of 18 illustrated verses with moral lessons. The artwork depicts a variety of daily life scenes for a young audience, including animals, rural life and domestic chores. It is a visual representation of didactic literature popular in the 19th century, known for its educational value. This broadside is a fine example of Dutch folk art and is housed in the Rijksmuseum.
