Karl Joubert made this "Wall Paper," and though we don’t know exactly when, we can see it was made with paint on paper. There's something so charming in its simplicity, a reminder that art doesn't always need to shout to be heard; sometimes, it whispers. Look at that delicate blue, almost floating against the warm, tan background. Joubert uses color so playfully, creating a rhythm that’s both soothing and engaging. The way the blue branches cross to create a trellis of sorts! So simple, but effective. It's like he's inviting us to get lost in a garden of his making. I love the way this piece hints at the tradition of wallpaper design, but feels so unique. It makes me think of designers like William Morris, but with an added layer of painterly abstraction. It’s a quiet conversation between tradition and innovation.
