"Card 17, Melitaea Nycteis," from the *Butterflies* series, is a chromolithograph trade card printed by Wm. S. Kimball & Co. in 1888. This card features a woman with a butterfly wing for a shoulder. The card uses a *carte de visite* format, which was a popular photographic format in the late 19th century. It is part of the *Butterflies* series, which contains 50 cards depicting butterflies and women with butterfly wings. The card is currently housed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, NY. These cards were distributed as promotional materials for the Kimball company and became popular collector's items.
