A night walker 

František Hudeček made this work, A Night Walker, using etching and aquatint, two printmaking techniques involving acid to incise lines into a metal plate. The effect is a network of hatched lines that define the dark ambiance, a lone figure walking through a nocturnal industrial landscape. The scene is reminiscent of interwar anxieties, factories, and the rise of the industrial age. The etching process, with its reliance on mechanical reproduction, mirrors the alienation of modern labor. Hudeček’s technique emphasizes the labor-intensive nature of traditional printmaking.
