Editor: León Ferrari’s "Road," a very long and thin drawing, reminds me of an extremely detailed architectural plan. What do you see in this piece? Curator: Notice how the symbols create a dense network, almost like a chaotic yet ordered cityscape. Does it evoke any specific cultural memories or anxieties about urban life? Editor: I guess I didn’t think about it, but yeah, it’s very dense. Maybe it's about urban sprawl? Curator: Perhaps. Consider the road itself. How does it function as a symbol here, linking or dividing the densely packed spaces? Editor: I see it now! It’s a very clever way to get us to think about how we move through and experience urban environments. Curator: Precisely. Ferrari’s work often uses familiar symbols to question power structures and societal norms, inviting us to re-evaluate our relationship to the built environment.
