Dragan Ilić Di Vogo made "Samo vas gledam" with, it seems, oil paint, in a way that lets us glimpse a world of dreams. The colors melt into each other, forming a figure that’s both there and not there, like a half-remembered story. Look closely, and you’ll see how the paint is worked, thin in places, allowing the canvas to breathe. But then elsewhere, thick swirls give form to a face and strange headpiece, like a surrealist vision of royalty. The whole surface has this tension between control and chaos, between realism and fantasy. The floating line of dashes feels especially curious. It’s like a symbol, or a kind of measurement? Maybe it's meant to show us that the painting is not finished, but in motion? Di Vogo reminds me of Dorothea Tanning, or maybe Leonora Carrington, artists who weren’t afraid to let their subconscious lead the way. Ultimately, this work feels like an invitation to get lost in a world of endless possibility.
