Iran Darroudi painted "Thirst of Desert" in oil with a palette that whispers of cool blues and shimmering golds, a dance between the harshness and allure of the desert. The paint application feels both deliberate and ethereal. Notice how the city shimmers in the distance. Those fine lines create structure but don’t quite contain the light. The artist is showing us how an image comes into being. Like an apparition the painting emerges from a haze of blues and whites. This approach to painting allows the emotional experience of the artwork to deepen, mirroring the desert's capacity to inspire both awe and longing. I am reminded of the way Agnes Martin allows geometry to dissolve into sublime, atmospheric fields of colour. Like Martin, Darroudi uses abstraction to evoke a feeling, making the painting a space for contemplation.
