This sequence of lithographs entitled 'Marie en de Uil' was made by Pellerin & Cie, and it's giving me all the feels right now. Look at those muted, chalky hues! The limited palette—soft reds, greens, and blues—creates a nostalgic, almost dreamlike quality. What I love here is the obvious process. Each frame is like a little stage where Marie’s story unfolds in simple, direct marks. The lines are clear but not rigid, allowing for a sense of movement and emotion. Notice the way the colors are applied, almost like watercolor washes, giving the image a delicate, handmade feel. It's as if each panel is a quick sketch, capturing a fleeting moment. This reminds me a little of the comic strips by Ad Reinhardt, but with a folk-art twist. Both find ways to take quite complex ideas and distill them down to just a few frames, each of them a moment captured in time. I love the idea of art as storytelling, a continuous conversation across time.
