Georges Valmier made this painting, Bird's Eye, with what looks like oil on canvas, and it feels like putting together a puzzle, doesn't it? The shapes are so clean and crisp, almost like paper cutouts, and the way he layers them makes you think about building something. I'm really drawn to that zig-zaggy, brown and tan shape near the middle. It's like a little party crasher amongst all the smooth curves. It's got this playful energy that bounces against the more reserved, geometric forms. The paint looks pretty flat, not much texture, which gives the whole thing a graphic, almost poster-like feel. The overall effect is one of bold, abstract composition, where each element plays a crucial role in the visual harmony. Thinking about other artists, you could say he’s playing in the same sandbox as someone like Fernand Léger, with that love of simple forms and industrial vibes. But Valmier has a lighter touch, a bit more whimsical. For me, art isn't about finding one "right" answer, it's more like entering a space of endless possibilities.
