Editor: Right now, we’re looking at Denman Waldo Ross’s "Landscape with Bonfire and Two Trees" hanging at the Harvard Art Museums. I find the color palette so autumnal, but also a little unsettling. What do you see in this piece? Curator: I'm drawn to the way Ross captures a fleeting moment, almost like a memory fading at the edges. The bonfire flickers, doesn’t it? A bit like our own lives--bursts of energy against the backdrop of an enduring landscape. What do you make of that contrast? Editor: I hadn't really thought of it like that – more like a peaceful end-of-day scene. Curator: Perhaps it’s both. The beauty of art, I think, lies in its ability to hold multiple truths, multiple perspectives. Editor: I think I see that now. Thanks! Curator: My pleasure. Art always has more to teach us.
