Hifa Cybe’s "Sinto Muito" is a brutal and unnerving juxtaposition of an old typewriter with raw meat. You have to wonder: what kind of mind dreams this up? The keys look like they are swimming in blood. It’s as if language, maybe even thought itself, is born from something so visceral, so carnal. I imagine Cybe, with a butcher’s focus, positioning that slab of meat, draping it, maybe even feeling around with it. It's like she's conducting an experiment, one that explores the raw, messy origins of creativity. This work reminds me of Paul McCarthy's abject sculptures. Here, Cybe takes an everyday object—the typewriter—and defiles it, imbuing it with a sense of decay. It’s deeply unsettling but maybe the artist is showing us how sometimes the most beautiful things come from something grotesque. Cybe is forcing us to confront the uncomfortable, isn't she? I dig it.
