Mariam Aslamazian made this painting of wildflowers, probably in her studio. It's all about the push and pull of color, how she builds up the image through layers. It's not exactly precise. The surface is alive with texture. You can see the brushstrokes dancing across the canvas, especially in the background. It’s not about hiding the process. See how she’s used these touches of red and pink near the bottom, grounding the bouquet, it's like she’s almost sculpting with paint. Aslamazian lets the painting breathe, reminding me a little of Bonnard, who also had that lovely, loose touch. And just like with his paintings, there’s no one way to look at this. Each viewer brings their own perspective, their own story, to the table. It's an invitation to engage, to feel, to see.
