Vudon Baklytsky made this painting, Composition with Faces, using what looks like gouache or poster paint. It's got this immediate, playful way of working with color and shape, something I really admire. You can almost see the artist figuring it out as they go, layering on the colors, not really blending them, just letting them sit next to each other. Check out the eyes, those bright yellow eyes, so direct and confrontational. There's a rawness to it, an honesty that comes from not fussing too much with details, but just going for it. It reminds me a bit of some early German Expressionist painting, where they were also using bold color and simplified forms to express strong emotions. It’s a reminder that art is not always about perfection, but about the energy and the spirit you bring to the process.
