This emblem with a putto and star was created by Frederik Ottens, sometime between 1675 and 1775, using etching. The composition immediately draws us into a circular frame where a winged putto stands beneath a radiant star. Note how the scene is divided into distinct registers—the putto in the middle, a celestial sky above, and floral arrangements below.
