This necklace was made by Alexander Calder, sometime during his career, using metal. He’s known for his playful approach, and you can see it here in the whimsical details. The metal has this amazing hammered texture, which isn’t trying to hide the work that went into it – it's all about the process. Those little disks, each with a tiny spiral, are like miniature galaxies strung together! And the radiating lines, almost like sunbeams, give the whole piece a burst of energy. I keep thinking about how each element is so simple, but together they create something so vibrant and alive. It reminds me a little of Joan Miró, with that same sense of playful abstraction and a love for the handmade. It’s a beautiful example of how art is really just one big, ongoing conversation.
